NatKat's Big Brother Season 2
Happily Never After
Episode #30 - Yahtzee

Once upon a time, in a house far far away from civilization, 16 strangers were locked up and propelled into a fantasy world like no other. While trying to survive the elements of this house and the game played within its walls, the 16 players have also lost all memory of who they really are and now think they are fairytale characters.

Tonight on NatKat's Big Brother Season 2 - Happily Never After, Gretel had went through a rainbow of emotions but in the end, she went for the bang.

Gretel: "Well I had a fun day being faced with the wrath of Pumba and Tiana ha ha!

Let's get this veto Wink"

Dopey: "I'm ready Wink . Emma's post suggests this could be tricky !"

Gretel: "Yep, we gotta read carefully but this also gives us time to strategize about how to work together!"

Dopey: "but she's posting rules early , which gives us time to prepare"

Power of Veto #12 (Growing Up)

Episode #30 - Yahtzee 600x338-toystory-characters

No toy gets left behind.

Andy is growing up fast and he plays with his beloved toys a lot less. He has moved on to board games. His favourite one being the one we will be playing tonight.

Spoiler:

For those unfamiliar with the game, here is a link for you to read and get familiar with it. I will give you 15 minutes to read over everything and post on this thread that you are here and participating. If you do not post on this thread by 8:30 p.m.EST, you will not play.

Link to Yahtzee game rules: http://www.math.cornell.edu/~mec/2006-2007/Probability/Yahtzee.htm

We will be following the same basic rules. You will get 3 rolls per round and there will be 13 rounds. There will not be Yahtzee Bonus in this challenge.

Score Sheet

1's: _____
2's: _____
3's: _____
4's: _____
5's: _____
6's: _____

Upper Bonus: _____

Bonus: At the end of the game, you get a bonus of 35 points if the total number of points you scored in the upper section is 63 or higher. The seemingly random number 63 corresponds to having scored a combination with three dice of the corresponding face value in each of the upper section boxes (though any upper section total of 63 or greater is rewarded with the bonus).

3 of a kind: _____
4 of a kind: _____
Full House: _____
Small Straight: _____
Large Straight: _____
Yahtzee: _____
Chance: _____

I added a Dice feature to the forum. You can test it if you want for fun, I believe you should see it as well although I'm not sure. It's at the bottom of the post when you write a new post. Under the preview and send button, to the left, you will see "DICES ROLL" and under that you will see "Dices roll #1" with a box beside. If you click in the black square, it will give you an option to pick dice 1,2,3,4 or 5. Beside that you see a white box with a 1 in it. You click the + sign to add dices. In this challenge, we will use 5 dices so you would want to put 5 dices so you get 5 rolls. This is just for you to test the feature out, but I will be rolling the dice for everyone.

Now on to how we will go about the rolls.

The order will be in which order you post to check in on this thread. The first person will start round #1

Roll 1: You post the word "Roll"
Roll 2: You tell me which dice you want to keep with your 5 rolls
Roll 3: You tell me which dice you want to keep with your new rolls

Once you're done rolling, you will tell me where you want to add it on your score card.

The person with the most points at the end of 13 rounds will win the Final 5 Power of Veto.

Rules

- To speed this up, I ask that you be alert. You will be given 90 seconds per roll and then 120 seconds to pick where you put it on your score card.
- If you fail to post in time, everything will be re rolled. If you fail to post once all 3 rolls where you want to put it on your score card, it will go in the first slot available going from top to bottom (1's to Chance)
- You do not have to use all 3 rolls if you get what you want before that point. You just have to let me know you're done and where you will put it on your score sheet.

Please ask questions now so we don't have to halt the challenge. I know this could be a long one so I want to try and make it as seamless as possible.

Episode #30 - Yahtzee 4295505

Tiana: "I may sound dumb but I never have played and I am kind of lost..."

Gretel: "I'm here and participating."

Rules and Scoring

The game takes thirteen turns. Each turn consists of up to three separate rolls of the dice. On the first roll you roll all five of the dice. After the first and second roll, you can hold any subset of the five dice you want (including none of the dice or all of the dice) and roll the rest trying to get a good combination. After the three rolls (or after the first or second roll if you choose to stop) you must find a place among the thirteen boxes in the scorecard to put your score. The score you get depends on the box that you choose and the combination that you have rolled. After a box is used, you can't use it again, so you have to choose wisely. This means that, in general, you don't have to choose the box that gives you the highest score for the combination you have rolled, since it may be advantageous to save that box for an even better roll later in the game. In fact, there are many situations it which it makes sense to put a 0 in a "bad" box instead of a low score in another "good" box because doing so would block the good box for future turns.

The Yahtzee scorecard contains two sections: the upper section and the lower section.

The Upper Section
In the upper section, there are six boxes, each corresponding to one of the six face values of the dice. For these boxes, you enter the sum of the dice with the corresponding face value (and ignore all other dice). For example, if you roll 5 3 3 5 3 you may enter a score of 9 in the third spot or a score of 10 in the fifth spot.

The Lower Section
Here you can score for various combinations.

3 of a kind: Score in this box if the dice include 3 or more of the same number. The score is the total of all five dice (unlike the upper section, where only the dice of one number are summed).
4 of a kind: Score in this box if the dice include 4 or more of the same number. The score is the total of all five dice.
Full House: Score in this box if the dice show three of one number and two of another (for example, 2 6 6 2 2). The score is 25 points.
Small Straight: Score in this box if the dice show any sequence of 4 numbers (for example 3 2 4 4 5). The score is 30 points.
Large Straight: Score in this box if the dice show any sequence of 5 numbers (for example 5 2 4 6 3). The score is 40 points.
Chance: Score in this box with any combination. The score is the total of the five dice.
Yahtzee: Score in this box if the dice show five of the same number. The score is 50 points.

Tiana: "Is this something I can do without knowing how to play? Like is this luck based? I read the rules but I don't understand.  Complicated board games aren't my specialty. Laughing"

Emma Swan: "Tiana here is a couple example rounds.

Round #1

Roll 1: 5,3,4,1,1

I notice that I can start a straight here with 1,3,4,5 so I say I am keeping 1,3,4,5 and rolling 1 of the 1's again.

Roll 2: 3

Well that's not really what I was looking for. I wanted a 2 for the Large Straight or a 6 for the Small Straight. So I tell the host to roll the 3 again

Roll 3: 6

I now have a Small Straight with 3,4,5,6 so I lock it in and say that I want to apply this round to my Small Straight. Now that is used so I can't use Small Straight again.

Now let's use the same example but let's say I got a 3 again on my 3rd roll. I have nothing really worth anything so I say I will use Chance. Which is like a freebie and you get your 5 dice added so it would be 1,3,3,4,5 total is 16.

Using again the same example but instead of picking Chance, you say Eff this, I'll just use up my 1's. You only have one 1 so you would get 1 point on your 1's spot."

Gretel's Diary Room

This veto challenge is actually heartbreaking because Tiana doesn't understand :/ man. This is not how I wanted her to go.....part of me secretly hoped she won it this round but she's not saving the right dice Sad

Congratulations Gretel. You guys have the weekend off so post your decision when you can. 24 hours please

Tiana: "Gretel you beat the pineapple slurpee out of us. Laughing"

Gretel: "great effort all around and we had some fun!

I am going to get off now but will be back tomorrow to post."

Dopey: "Goodnight"

Baymax pep talks Gretel trying to make sure she doesn't succumb to guilt and use the veto.

Baymax: "Yes tiana is questioning me because you name dropped. I am just smiling and nodding at her at this point.. Just remember this is a big move you made and you should feel proud of it. This is the kind of stuff that will help you win in the finals!

Do not let them get to you."

Gretel: "Thank you Bay Smile You are playing great too, couldn't do it without you and you got Kristoff!

I didn't name drop you, she actually told me she suggested me to you when I was asking if she wanted me out. She told Kristoff to put me up once too, so I referenced that (to not throw you under a bus!)"

Tiana was still holding hope alive.

Tiana: "I saw where Dopey said congrats Gretel, so I assume you won. Is there any possible chance you would consider saving me? I really want to stay and go to the final two with you. We've been together since like day one. I have every intention of going to the end with you."

Gretel: "Yeah I did....let me sleep on it because it's an important decision. My heart wants to but I also know you are a huge threat.

Is anyone gonna keep you if noms stay do you know?"

Tiana: "I don't think I will be kept. I've never spoken to Dopey, and I don't think Baymax wants me here.

I don't think I am well liked by some of the jury members due to Scar/Cruella and me/you have played the game side by side and a final two with you is what I have wanted from day one.

But okay sleep on it. I tried really hard tonight and didn't give up even though I didn't know what I was doing at first, so I hope that showed you that I really did want to be here."

Tiana was feeling a little glimmer of hope. She shared it with Pumba.

Tiana: "I'm really trying to convince Gretel to use the veto. She wanted to sleep on the choice because she says people perceive me as a big threat so basically she feels like I need to go because she couldn't win against me but I feel like that isn't true because most people disliked me on their way out."

Pumba: "Think it will work?"

Tiana: "I have to be optimistic"

The next morning, Gretel had a few talks and was ready to post her decision.

Gretel: "I know I have to make a decision on veto and it's one I've given a lot of consideration. My brain is running on about 3 hours of sleep tho so bear with me.

I  have decided
Spoiler:
to use the veto this round.

Tiana, I just wanna say you've been a force in this game and responsible for so many key evictions of my former allies like Scar, Cruella, Kristoff and Abu! You were the player of the season and when I have doubts in my mind, I can't take a chance this late in the game when stuff is so important."

Tiana: "Good game guys."

The nominations are set in stone

Episode #30 - Yahtzee 30hsWWg68Ta9vxL0aSI22p6si0SLXJ7nEW4EdLwjzhmFKE2BcfKPEOkhoBQ68DSwj3uAA1V1ZlS0H6MOlmxnXCBG6cDg9Jj1MYMAm9_hajbk6vCJW_wV8Dn2a-HwoSxVuUgcycUIjDXyrGc3GbE2Tql0JRnCwHDbzRg9nWEevjvVww=w426-h319-p

Tiana & Pumba you are both nominated for eviction tonight. Your peers now have until 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday April 30th to vote for one of you to be evicted in their Diary Room.

Good Luck!

Remember that failure to vote means you cannot play in the next Wizard Challenge or be Head of Household.

Pumba discretely tries to secure the votes to stay.

Pumba: "Hey what's up Baymax. I hear you are keeping me, and if true, I thank you!"

Baymax: "Oh lord I have not had any time I. The day to talk to anyone really! But yes I managed to contact dopey at least and we agreed we would love to keep you over tiana."

He goes to Gretel.

Episode #30 - Yahtzee Giphy

Pumba: "Hey, how are you! I'm just checking in to see if anything has changed?"

Gretel: "Nope! I am just logging in and it looks like they are voting Tiana. I was waiting to make sure in case I needed to use it on you! Is that what you've confirmed too?"

Pumba: "Honestly, I haven't spoken to anyone lol. But that's good to hear! This next HOH is crucial!"

Gretel: "Tiana told me they are both voting her so it's ok.

I can't play in HOH, but I will try to help you! I will try as hard as I can for the veto too.

I am nervous about breaking this trust with Tiana cuz she would've final 3'd with us, so I hope this wasn't a mistake. Who do we need to make sure goes next? I see pros and cons to both."

Pumba: "Is the wizard twist over?"

Gretel: "I don't know"

Pumba: "If not, you could still win and give it to me lol.

As for who's next, I don't know. Probably the stronger comp threat. What do you think?"

Gretel: "Ya I definitely will do that should I win! Or I can post answers or something in this room too.

The problem is they are threats in comps in different ways. Dopey seems to be able to find answers easier while Baymax I think is in a later timezone. The last challenge could be endurance. Both are good.

I can stay up late if needed, but I'm not as fast as others in looking stuff up. Are you fast? Please say yes Laughing"

Pumba: "It depends, if I would have read the rules properly I think I could have won the last HOH, but all the users I used were older than the rules allowed."

Gretel: "ok! I'm just going to believe in us, we will get the last three comps won. I know we can!"

It was rather quiet in the house, everyone seemed to already know what was about to happen.

Gretel's Diary Room

Not using the veto was actually the hardest decision I've made all game. I found Tiana sort of pushy earlier with taking out threats/alienating me from other allies but deep down I know she gave it her all and I cost her a win. She seems really sweet and I just hope she understands that my veto win and HOH win were not particularly in my plans for this specific round (it happened out of my control) and that I see a fight and drive in her similar to what I possess.

I feel really bad and I hope after the game you understand why I did it, T Sad I probably made a mistake because out of anyone left, I felt most strongly that you would be loyal to me to the end. I really believed that.

I am a terrible ally to have sometimes since I do backstab...bad! I hate that about me.

Thank you so much for joining. You were a total goddess in this game and you played your heart out. This is heartbreaking for me to say goodbye because you were part of what makes this season so good. I really do think you played a great game and I hope you feel the same. #tianarevival

The rest of you, See you Monday for your last Wizard Challenge.

Baymax: "Tiana you were a delight to play with"

Tiana: "<3333 can't wait to see who you all are after the game. Good luck to all of you!"

Gretel: "Nice words from Emma! Bye girl."

Baymax: "I said the exact same thing to Gretel earlier! One of the best casts I have had the pleasure of playing with. This game has been so fun so far, and next week is really going to be a lot of fun. It truly is anyone's game right now I feel!"

Dopey: "I get the feeling we're all gonna be in for a big surprise when the identities are revealed lol , but I will share Baymax' sentiments , it has been a really good fun game so far.
Now off to watch Deadpool , I've heard so much about it , all the hype etc, I'm bound to hate it now that it's been built up so much!"

Pumba: "You played a great game Tiana! Thank you guys for keeping me. I agree with everything said about this cast!"

By far one of the longest live challenge down and the last challenge REGINA SHOULD HAVE WON out the door, it was anyone's guess who would end up in the finals. Do you have any ideas dear viewers? Find out next time on NatKat's Big Brother Season 2 - Happily Never After.
